Local airlines’ preparedness to be checked before they take off on May 1

Local airlines’ preparedness to be checked before they take off on May 1

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) will meet with Thai domestic airlines on April 23 to check the health and safety measures they have prepared before they resume local flights from May 1.

Many Thai airlines suspended services since March 25 in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop said the airlines will be required to only allow every other seat to be occupied and passengers will have to wear masks at all times while on board. The airlines will also be prohibited from serving food and drink on board.
He said THAI Smile has told CAAT it will resume flights on June 1 instead of May 1 that it had originally scheduled.
CAAT is also looking into whether the ban on foreign flights should be extended. The ban is scheduled to be lifted as of 11.59pm of April 30.
