Gold price rises
The price of gold rose by Bt200 per baht weight in morning trade today (April 21), the Gold Traders Association reported.
As of 9.30am, the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,800 per baht weight and selling price Bt26,000, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt25,332.36 and Bt26,500, respectively.
The Gold Spot Index price this morning moved around US$1,690 (Bt55,015) per ounce after the price increased by $12.8 to $1,711.2 per ounce at Monday’s close.
Investors were buying gold as a safe haven asset after US stocks and West Texas Intermediate oil prices dropped sharply amid uncertainty due to the Covid-19 impact.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong gold price rose by HK$120 to $15,620 (Bt65,610) per tael.
