BGrim confident of meeting first-quarter target despite Covid-19 crisis

BGrim confident of meeting first-quarter target despite Covid-19 crisis

The Covid-19 outbreak has had only a slight impact on BGrim Power Plc's business, though some customers have lowered production capacity in line with their work-from-home policies, company president Preeyanat Soontornwata said.

She added that the imposition of the state of emergency on March 26 and the subsequent curfew have led to lower electricity usage in some industries.
However, some businesses have consumed more electricity such as plastic makers and packaging makers, she added.
She said the company had a diverse customer portfolio, which reduced its risk of depending mainly on the ones being impacted by the outbreak.
She is confident the company's performance in the first quarter would meet target or might even better the performance in the same period last year.
She added that the company was continuing with its investment expansion locally and overseas.
The company's chief financial officer, Nopadej Karnasuta, said that this year the company was continuing negotiations to buy a natural gas power plant in Malaysia with a capacity of between 200-250 megawatts.
