Gold price up slightly amid worries over falling oil price
The price of gold rose by Bt50 per baht weight in morning trade on Wednesday (April 22), the Gold Traders Association reported.
The buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,700 per baht weight and selling price Bt25,900, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt25,241.40 and Bt26,400 per baht weight, respectively.
At close on Tuesday (April 21), buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,650 and selling price Bt25,850, while buying price of gold ornaments was Bt25,180.76 and selling price Bt26,350 per baht weight.
The Gold Spot Index price on Wednesday morning moved to around US$1,687 (Bt54,794) per ounce after the price dropped by $23.4 to $1,687.8 per ounce at close on Tuesday.
Gold price was still under pressure from the strengthening dollar, while investors were selling gold to hold cash to compensate for losses in other assets after oil price fell sharply.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong gold price dropped by HK$50 to $15,600 (Bt65,379) per tael.
