Gold price drops due to mass sell-off
The price of gold dropped by Bt150 per baht weight in morning trade today (April 28), the Gold Traders Association reported.
As of 9.24am, the buying price of a gold bar was Bt25,900 per baht weight and selling price Bt26,100, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt25,438.48 and Bt26,600, respectively.
At Monday’s close (April 27), a bar of gold cost Bt26,050 to buy and Bt26,250 to sell, while gold ornaments cost Bt25,574.92 and Bt26,750, respectively.
The Gold Spot Index price this morning moved around US$1,702 (Bt55,314) per ounce after the price dropped by $11.8 to $1,723.8 per ounce at Monday’s close due to mass sell-off after the US and Europe began to ease their lockdown measures.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong gold price dropped by HK$100 to $15,790 (Bt66,206) per tael.
