If there is no second wave of Covid-19 infections, Thailand’s economic growth this year will still be between -3 and -5 percent, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking has forecast, Suphant Mongkolsuthree, the committee’s chairman said.

The committee has revised downward its growth forecast from 1.5 to 2 percent previously.

However, he said, this is still better than the -6.7 percent forecast by the International Monetary Fund, due mainly to the government's launching of relief measures and the earmarking of huge sums to revive the economy.
