Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha today (June 12) met with Abel Deng, chief executive officer of Huawei Technologies (Thailand), at Government House to discuss how digital innovations and 5G ecosystem could help the country rebound from the impact of the virus crisis. Huawei also donated 500,000 face masks to Thailand.

“We appreciate Huawei’s commitment to Thailand in the development of communications and telecommunications, especially building the 5G network, which the Thai government has emphasised,” said Prayut, adding that Thailand aimed to become the region’s digital technology leader.
Deng hailed Thailand’s for employing internationally recognised best practices for infection prevention and control to overcome Covid-19.
Huawei (Thailand) recently provided AI solutions for Covid-19 diagnosis at Siriraj and Ramathibodi hospitals, and delivered a Huawei Telemedicine Video Conference Solution to the Public Health Ministry.
Prayut recently visited the Information Technology Center at the Department of Disease Control and Siriraj Hospital to inspect Huawei’s innovative healthcare solutions.
"As the Covid-19 pandemic passes, Huawei is confident that Thailand has the capability to be the regional digital hub. We are willing to support and collaborate with the Thai government to revive Thailand's economy and society. It is also our commitment to capture the full capacities of ICT innovations including 5G ecosystem, AI, Big Data, and Cloud Service in order to improve the quality of life, as well as to enhance the capabilities of both public and private sectors. The collaboration will help us accelerate the growth of Thai economy and society and overcome any challenges ahead of us,” said Deng.
Among Huawei’s plans for Thailand is a 5G Ecosystem Innovation Centre to cultivate ICT talents in the local digital industry including SMEs, startups and other organisations via knowledge-sharing and skills-transfer led by global experts and digital scientist from Huawei Technologies headquarters.
