Dtac denies report of 50% staff cut

Total Access Communication (dtac) on Friday denied a report that it plans to cut staff numbers by 50 per cent.

Dtac said its employees can continue to work flexibly, either off-site or at company headquarters, regional offices, and its three call centres in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai.

The telecoms giant said strict measures were in place to ensure social distancing, hygiene and safety in its workplaces, where staff attendance was limited to 30 per cent. Dtac service centres resumed normal operations on June 1.

To ensure the success of its flexible work model, dtac said it had employed a “tight-loose-tight” management approach – tight on expectations, loose on how employees choose to achieve their goals, and tight on accountability. The firm believes flexible working is a growing expectation among employees, and that it can empower them to be more productive and happier at work.
