Thai gold bullion plunges THB1,150 at Wednesday’s opening

Thai gold bullion opened THB1,150 lower at THB67,900 per baht-weight as rising US bond yields and a stronger dollar pressured global prices.

Thai gold prices fell sharply at the opening of trading on Wednesday (September 2, 2026), with bullion dropping by THB1,150 per baht-weight.

The Gold Traders Association’s first price announcement, issued at 9.03am, placed the selling price of gold bullion at THB67,900 per baht-weight, down from the final price announced on Tuesday.

Gold prices were revised 30 times throughout Tuesday, ending the day with a total decline of THB800 and a bullion selling price of THB69,050 per baht-weight.

The 30th and final announcement for 96.5% gold on Tuesday placed prices at:

  • Tax base: THB67,477.16 per baht-weight

  • Selling price: THB69,050 per baht-weight
  • Buying price: THB68,850 per baht-weight


Global prices pressured by stronger dollar

Spot gold continued its sharp decline from the weekend, trading at around US$4,294 an ounce on Wednesday morning.

US Comex gold also closed substantially lower overnight, falling by US$85.10 to approximately US$4,396.40 an ounce.

Gold came under pressure from rising US Treasury yields and a strengthening dollar. Technical selling also intensified after the price fell below its 200-day moving average.

In Hong Kong, gold opened HK$560 lower at approximately HK$40,340.
