An inspiring journey of learning to Sydney

An inspiring journey of learning to Sydney

AUSTRALIA is a launch pad for start-ups - just like San Francisco, Shanghai, Singapore and Tel Aviv. The 2016 Startup Muster report showed that 70 per cent of start-ups in Australia attended start-up-related events at least once a month.

About 40 per cent of them found their inspiration for the creation of their own start-up by attending such events. Direct talk to grown-up start-ups is also a source of inspirational discovery.

The age range makes Australian start-up founders very different from Thais. The founders in Thailand are mostly aged between the late 20s and early 30. The Australians, meanwhile, are experienced individuals aged between the ages of 35 and 40. Besides, around 32 per cent of the founders in Australia are serial entrepreneurs who have experience of previously founding a start-up. Co-working space is preferable among Australians. Statistics suggested that 73 per cent of the start-ups rent a co-working space as an office for their teammates.
Apart from statistics related to founders and working styles, let's have a look at |the Australian start-ups' business model. Fintech was most popular among Australian start-ups and the industry trend continues |to rise, according to the 2016 report. It |would be followed in the future by other |industry trends including Internet of Things, Medtech or Biotech and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Business to Business accounted for 60 per cent of all business models mostly used. Interest in creating mobile apps reduces in every OS.
It is interesting that 92 per cent of Australian start-ups have generated |export revenue. Of the start-ups, 50 per cent managed to generate revenue in the first 12 months of their business. The largest source |of revenue was from domestic and overseas customers through subscription-based mode. The majority, or 64 per cent, of customers |were in Australia, followed by 26 per cent |in the US, 4 per cent in the UK, 1.5 per cent in New Zealand and 4.5 per cent in all other countries.
This is evidence suggests that Australia deserves a reputation as the launch pad for start-ups. The country could be considered as a great inspiration destination for start-ups.
