Google launches new start-up studio

Google is launching a new initiative on Thursday – Google Developers Launchpad Studio – a full-service studio that provides tailored technical, product, and investment support to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning start-ups, all in one place.

Yossi Matias, vice president of Engineering for Google, said that a three-person team or an established post-Series B start-up (entering the scaling-up phase) could apply AI/ML to their product offering.
Applications to join Launchpad Studio are now open.
The global headquarters of Launchpad Studio will be based in San Francisco at Launchpad Space, with events and activities taking place in Tel Aviv and New York.
Google plans to expand the activities and events to Toronto, London, Bangalore, and Singapore soon.
As a member of the Studio program, participants find services tailored to their unique needs and challenges, such as applied AI integration toolkits, product validation support, access to AI experts, access to AI practitioners, and investors.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with start-ups in the AI and Machine Learning space. Innovation is open to everyone, worldwide. With this global program, we now have an important opportunity to support entrepreneurs everywhere in the world who are aiming to use AI to solve the biggest challenges,” said Matias.
The mission of Google Developers Launchpad is to enable start-ups from around the world to build great companies.
In the last four years, it has been supporting early and late-stage founders. From working with dynamic start-ups – such as teams applying Artificial Intelligence technology to solving transportation problems in Israel, improving tele-medicine in Brazil, and optimising online retail in India.
“We’ve learned that these start-ups require specialised services to help them scale,” said Matias.
