A very British day out

A very British day out

Ploenchit Fair is a traditional day for all the family and has been one of the biggest events of the social calendar in Bangkok since it was first held in the British Embassy in 1957 – making this year the fair’s Diamond Jubilee.

For 60 years, the fair has been held annually (originally located on the British Embassy grounds on Ploenchit Road), and raises money to support Thai Charities in Thailand under the BCTFN Foundation (British Community in Thailand for the Needy). Today the fair is a fully international event supported by the international and Thai community in Bangkok.
The Ploenchit Fair Diamond Jubilee 2017 will be held on November 25 at Bangkok Patana School on Soi La Salle off Sukhumvit 105. The one-day event scheduled from 10am to 8pm will be full of activities and attractions for all ages. There’s live stage entertainment, international food and drink, and many games and thousands of prizes to be won for all the family. While kids are enjoying a variety of play stations or extreme game with dads, mums can hit the shopping areas including stalls set up by many of the charities the foundation supports to sell their arts and crafts.
Through this event, the BCTFN Foundation encourages self-help projects, agricultural, educational and medical projects. The support reaches the whole country including Nakon Sawan, Mai Hong Son, Bangkok, Betong, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Mukkdhan, Nong Khai and much more.
The Foundation’s main source of funding is raised at the annual fair. In turn international and local companies donate funds, goods used as prizes at the fair and the foundation is supported by individual donations. For everyone who wants to support the foundation attending the fair always helps, or you or contact the BCTFN office to make a personal donation.
To date, the foundation has raised more than Bt60 million to assist these worthy causes.
The entrance fees are Bt150 for adults and Bt50 for children. A free shuttle bus service is available from BTS: Bang Na station.
