Punching bags and video arts

Punching bags and video arts

The Bangkok Art Biennale 2018, the first to be held in the Thai capital, kicked off on Thursday at several venues across the city, among them The EmQuartier shopping complex on Sukhumvit Road. Quartier Parc and Quartier Avenue are hosting works by Choi Jeong Hwa, a contemporary artist and designer from the Republic of Korea.

Choi specialises in space and large shapes that attract attention from afar. Two of his art installations will take turns in the exhibition – “Happy Happy Project 2018: Inflatable Flower” (orange) is on display until Monday while “2018: Inflatable Robot (Black)” can be admired from October 22 to 30.
Sanitas Pradittasnee, a Thai artist who specialises in landscape architecture and large scale art installations, will show his outdoor piece, “Equilibrium”, featuring inflatable punching bags with blueandwhite patterns at Quartier Avenue from November 1 to 7.
The EmQuartier is also playing host to illustrator Wisut Ponnimit’s adorable cartoon character Mamuang and her fourlegged friend Manow in an animated form until February 3, while Kawita Vatanajyankur is displaying her latest collection of video art, also until February 3.
