Yamazato Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok marks the upcoming “Tango no Sekku”, or Boy’s Festival with a special Gozen lunch and Kaiseki dinner menus throughout May.

 The Gozen lunch, which is priced at Bt1,300 plus. starts with assorted sashimi and green tea fish noodle soup and continues with grilled snowfish, tempura and a dish of simmered rice with mountain vegetables and salmon roe served with pickles and miso soup. Dessert is Kashiwa mochi rice cake filled with red bean jam and wrapped in oak leaves.

The Kaiseki dinner (Bt4,500 plus) features an eight-dish feast including an appetiser of fig with lightly grilled conger eel, crab and broad beans garnished with maitake mushrooms and white asparagus, green tea fish noodle soup and assorted sashimi.

Special dishes include simmered egg custard with ginko nuts and tofu skin, grilled beef and young sweet fish with papaya dressing garnished with elingi mushrooms and the traditional Tai Kabutoni – heads of sea bream specially simmered in a thick soy sauce.

Customers can learn how to make origami kanuto samurai hat at the sushi bar every Friday and Saturday.
