Tasting tradition on a banana leaf
The Spice Market restaurant at Anantara Siam Bangkok marks the arrival of the Loy Krathong Festival with the exclusive gourmet promotion that will be available from this Friday (November 3) to November 10.
For the night of the full moon, when Thais traditionally head to the riverbank and launch their banana-leaf barges adorned with flowers and candles to honour the Water Goddess and ask her for the forgiveness of our transgressions in the past year, the restaurant is being transformed into an old Thai spice shop, offering a delicious choice of specially created dishes served on banana leaves. Classic Thai delicacies include Rhum Gai Gluay Goong – banana, chicken and shrimp wrapped in a deep-fried egg net – and Nam Prig Hua Plee Pla Yang – grilled seabass with a spicy banana blossom dip.
