Troops and police stepped up security at the Mueang Yala Temple, which is under the royal patronage, Monday morning when Yala Governor Samart Waradisai led officials and Buddhsits to give alms to 99 monks to mark the Visakha Bucha Day celebration.
The security forces were dispatched to keep security both inside and outside the temple for fear of attacks by Muslim insurgents.
