Unesco Bangkok, the United Nations Development Programme and Being LGBTI in Asia have encouraged parents, peers and teachers to join the campaign as many LGBTI young people in the region experience dread at school.
Participants are invited to show LGBTI youngsters that they can feel safe at schools by wearing, drawing or making something purple and then submitting their photos to www.campaign.com/PurpleMySchool or by using hashtag #PurpleMySchool on social media. The #PurpleMySchool campaign’s website is available in English and other languages.
The campaign runs until International Human Rights Day on December 10.
