	The spider is the size of the palm of a hand, can walk on water and eats fish, frogs, tadpoles and even the poisonous cane toad.</div>

	Australian researchers named the spider Dolomedes Briangreenei, in honour of Columbia University physics professor Brian Greene and co-founder of the World Science Festival currently being held in Brisbane.</div>

	The spider uses vibrations or tiny waves on the surface of the water to navigate to its prey.</div>

	&quot;When disturbed or hauling in captured fish, they will plunge through the surface of the water and swim quickly to hide on the bottom,&quot; Dr Raven, Principal Scientist of Arachnology at the Queensland Museumsaid in a statement released Thursday by the Festival.</div>

	The spider can even dive below the surface to seize fish or hide on the bottom.</div>

Sydney - Scientists in Australia say they have discovered a large spider that can surf, swim and catch fish.
