Group A blood? You are at higher risk for Covid-19
A leading Thai virologist has highlighted recent research indicating that people with group A blood are more susceptible to Covid-19.
Dr Yong Poovorawan of Chulalongkorn Hospital said on Thursday (June 18) that group A individuals had shown higher rates of infection than people with B, O or AB blood.
The New England Journal of Medicine recently published a report on studies in Italy and Spain which found that people with O group blood have the lowest risk of coronavirus infection, while A-group individuals have the highest.
The findings came from Italian and Spanish scientists’ genome-wide association study (GWAS), and confirm earlier studies by Chinese researchers, said Dr Yong.
