Thousands of birds find home in Buriram after fleeing Siberian winter

Nearly 5,000 birds immigrating from Siberia to avoid the cold weather have been spotted in Sanambin Reservoir Wildlife Sanctuary in Buriram province.

Various species of birds have appeared in the province and have begun laying eggs and are searching for food, turning the sanctuary into a tourist attraction.

It is speculated that the 5,000 birds can create about 250 nests, as the area is more abundant with food this time than in the last two years when Buriram province faced a severe drought.

Bird-watchers are invited to see the rare species and enjoy the cool weather at the sanctuary where the officers will help guide and secure safety along the way.

The sanctuary’s chief said that more birds would come to lay eggs until the end of the winter season.
