Asanee and Wasan Chotikul headline next month's Rock on the Lake Music Festival

After being forced to cancel earlier this year because of the political turbulence rocking the country, the Silverlake Music Festival returns to Pattaya next month with a line-up of the country’s best known rock artists.
Dubbed “Rock on the Lake”, the festival sets out to make the point that “Rock Mai Mee Gen” (rock has no generation), as evidenced by the choice of headliner – veteran rockers and brothers wild Asanee and Wasan Chotikul.
“It is an important music event and we are really pleased to be performing and this festival for the first time. We’re sure the audience will really enjoy the shows by rock bands of different generations,” Asanee told the recent press conference at EST.33 in The Nine Centre on Rama IX.
“So come on and rock with us.”
The Loei-born brothers, who started out in the 1970s as a folk-rock combo called Isn’t and renamed themselves Asanee-Wasan in 1986 with the release of their first album, “Bah Horb Fang", will be apppearing alongside such other big names as Pathompong “Pong” Sombatpibul of Hin Lek Fai (Stone Metal Fire), Nuvo, Moderndog, Jirasak “Maew” Panpoom, Palmy, Slot Machine, Tattoo Colour, Hugo, 25 Hours, Super Band, Helmetheads, Blackhead, and Rock Mahoree.
Father and son “Muek” Wiroj and “Map” Wongsathorn Kwantham served as the emcees at the press conference.
“I’m actually quite fond of Silverlake. It’s a beautiful place not far from Bangkok and suitable for a music festival,” noted Vudtinun Bhirombhakdi, managing director of Music Reunion.
“The venue is ready to support a major music festival like ‘Rock on the Lake’ and has the facilities to welcome 100,000 music fans,” added Suriyane Tantiyanon, marketing manager of Silverlake Vineyard and president of Silverlake Entertainment.
“We will have two stages – the Silver Stage and the Lake Stage – as well as a food and beverage zone.
Helmetheads and Blackhead both performed at the press conference, which also saw contributions from Jirakorn “Ae” Sompitak, Zeal, Methee Thapthimthong, Sunanta “Nan AF10” Yuraniyom, Song Thai, The Morning Glory, and Ob Choey as well as former Grammy songwriter Nitipong Hornak.
