Dinosaurs stomp back in for one week only

As the autumn-winter blockbuster season gets underway with the sneak-preview release of "Everest", the biggest movie from the summer, "Jurassic World", returned yesterday for a one-week run at Imax cinemas

A reboot of Steven Spielberg’s hit franchise, “Jurassic World” has Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard scrambling to safety as the genetically enhanced mother of all dinosaurs, the Indominus rex, goes on a killing spree in the prehistoric theme park.
After its initial release in June, “Jurassic World” earned $1.522 billion worldwide, eclipsing “The Avengers” to become the third-highest-grossing movie of all time behind “Avatar” and “Titanic”.
For the Imax release, “Jurassic World” has been digitally re-mastered for the company’s trademarked “IMAX 3D Experience”, featuring “crystal-clear images coupled with Imax’s customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie”.
In Thailand, “Jurassic World: An Imax 3D Experience” is screening at Siam Paragon (the only authentic, original-size Imax screen in the Kingdom) as well as at the newer smaller-screened “Imax Digital” outlets at Major Cineplex Pinklao and Ratchayothin, Quartier CineArt, Central Festival Chiang Mai and Hat Yai and the newest Imax, Central Westgate.

Opening
Among the new releases this week is the horror-comedy “Burying the Ex”. It’s directed by Joe Dante, who looks to be capturing a little bit of the old fun B-movie flair he had with such movies as “Matinee”, “Gremlins” and “The Howling”. A low-budget effort, “Burying the Ex” stars Anton Yelchin as a fellow who is afraid of his manipulative and controlling girlfriend Evelyn (Ashley Greene). After she is killed in a freak accident, young Max moves on to a new girl (Alexandra Daddario), but Evelyn returns from the grave as a zombie and is more menacing than ever. It’s at SF cinemas. Rated 15+
