We need more pools and bigger pools for our kids

The swimming tournament for school-children at the Chiang Mai Physical Education Institute on Saturday was both a success and a failure.

First, the event attracted interest from as far away as Fang district – 150 kilometres away. More than 400 youngsters, ranging from less than six to 15 years of age, participated. This was a great success.
However, the institute’s swimming pool has only five lanes, and was 25 metres instead of the standard 50 metres. This competition was a failure in that no records could be expected to be made and verified as a result.
The Prayut government should consider building a lot more swimming pools all over the country for our children. This is one of the best ways to keep our kids away from drugs and other social vices.
Thailand could even have Olympic swimming champions as a result.
