The Ramathibodi Foundation under the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has collaborated with 10 local fashion brands to launch a special collection of scarves on the theme “A Journey of Love”.
The participating brands are Asava, Greyhound Original, Issue, Painkiller, Playhound by Greyhound, Senada, Vickteerut, Milin, Vatanika, and Patinya. Proceeds from sales will go to support the building of the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute. The collection is a part of the annual “Power of Giving” project, now in its third year, which sees the foundation working with top designers to create different souvenirs under the theme “Giving is Endless”.
“The Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute in Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district is now 90-per-cent complete. However, we still need money to purchase medical equipment. The Institute, which is scheduled to open by the end of this year, will be a medical school and a 400-bed public hospital with comprehensive medical facilities. The hospital aims to provide medical service to 1.2 million people living in the east of the country, including lower-income populations from the industrial estates,” says the foundation’s managing director Punsiree Kunakornpaiboonsiri.
Patinya Kyokong of Patinya says her inspiration come from fine thin lace, which implies the transparency of giving without expecting any return while Pupavis Kritpolnara of Issue uses a pink graphic design, symbolising endless giving and true love among friends.
Aurapraphan Suthinaraset of Vickteerut represents abundant water through a blue grid design with a touch of silver to signify an abundance of kindness. Poomsak Teankaprasith of Painkiller invents classic monograms for Give, Love, Hope to create a woven design.
“My graphic is the stars glittering in the darkness. The continuous glitter implies the endless giving by humanity. My stars are white splashes in a midnight blue sky,” says Chanita Preechawitayakul of Senada.
Asava’s scarf incorporates a ribbon indicating heart waves while Vatanika goes for a classic look in grey, black, and orange. Jitsing Somboon of Playhound by Greyhound is inspired by quotations from his favourite rock bands and Bhanu Inkawat gets his inspiration from a famous painting by Michelangelo. Milin reflects her femininity with designs of pink lips and monograms of “love”, “give”, and “share”.
The exclusive scarves are priced at Bt499 apiece. They are available at the Ramathibodi Foundation shop at Ramathibodi Hospital and online at www.RamaFoundation.or.th. For details, call (02) 201 2222.
