Ben’s back onstage for Aids relief
Singer Chalatit “Ben” Tantiwut, appointed Thailand’s first goodwill ambassador for the UN Aids agency last year, will be raising funds for the cause in the “GSB 2 Tone Concert: Ben Chalatit with His Friends” on June 17 at Mono 29 Studio on Bangkok’s Chaiyapruek Road.
His old group B5 will join him onstage.
Ben says he at first declined an invitation from Pilavat “Peet” Assavavachiravit, the studio’s director, to do a show.
“I want to have only one or two big concerts a year, but then I changed my mind because I wanted to do something in my role as UN Aids ambassador,” he says. “Singing is what I do best, so I told Peet I’d like my concert to be a fund-raiser, with proceeds after expenses going to UN Aids. This concert will make a difference.”
Ben says he’ll be performing all of his original material, unlike in his previous shows that included other people’s hits.
“A lot of the fans might have forgotten my songs! So this time they’ll hear my stuff from the beginning of my career, right from ‘Khon Khang Lang’ on my first album, to the tunes I did with B5 with Mariam, Cake, Q and Toh Saksit, to all the soundtrack pieces.”
