Peace doesn’t come from dictators and demagogues

I find yesterday’s offering from Clara Holzer strange, to say the least. Let us take a look. The opening sentence sets the tone for my entire contribution.

Contrary to acknowledged experts’ thoughts, Holzer actually believes that Trump should be “praised” for congratulating Vladimir Putin on “winning” the Russian presidential election; amazing. This despite all the advice from his own national security advisers that Trump chose to ignore, him being the authority in the art of statecraft he believes himself to be. She compounds her untutored views by advocating a supine, Chamberlain-esque “peace in our time” paper-waving surrender, by believing that “anything” to achieve peace should be praised. One can almost hear the laughter echoing through the halls of the Kremlin. This peace at all costs presumably includes Trump’s friendly, peace-seeking “fire and fury” approach to US relations with North Korea.
Now we find that Trump has appointed the neo-con hawk John Bolton to replace yet another resignee/casualty, HR McMaster. Make of that what you will.
