Autumn may be subtle in Bangkok, but at The Authors’ Lounge, the season arrives through warming flavours, rich colours and a carefully composed afternoon tea at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
Available from September 1 to November 30, 2026, the seasonal experience brings together savoury bites, autumn-inspired desserts and freshly baked traditional scones, all served within the elegant surroundings of one of Bangkok’s most storied settings.
The journey begins on a distinctly autumnal note with poached pear and chestnut ice cream, setting the tone for a menu built around seasonal flavours and thoughtfully paired ingredients.
The savoury selection spans a variety of breads and fillings. Paris ham and Gruyère cheese on rye bread comes with pickled cucumber, mayonnaise and mustard seeds, while ricotta and pickled pear are paired with walnut bread.
Seafood features in two contrasting bites: smoked salmon and beetroot on beetroot bread, finished with horseradish cream and pickled onion, and a refreshing pomelo and crab salad accompanied by pomelo jelly. Completing the savoury line-up is chicken and carrot salad on carrot bread with pickled carrot.
No traditional afternoon tea would be complete without scones, and The Authors’ Lounge serves its freshly baked classic scones with seasonal fruit preserves and a choice of Devonshire cream, mascarpone cheese or butter.
The sweeter side of the experience embraces the colours and comforting flavours associated with autumn. The selection includes Tropical Bloom cake, Thai tea caramel tart, chocolate flan, apple tart, pecan cookie and croissant, creating a varied finale ranging from fruit and nuts to chocolate and aromatic Thai tea.
The autumn afternoon tea is available from September 1 to November 30, 2026, at The Authors’ Lounge, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, priced at THB1,980++ per person, or THB2,680++ per person with one glass of Champagne.
