Australia's authoritative Sydney Morning Herald on Friday carried a report headlined "Islamic State plotting attacks in Thailand".
It said that IS was believed to have deployed 10 terrorists plotting attacks across Thailand, including at destinations popular with Australian, United States, French, German and Russian tourists. These included Pattaya and Phuket.
According to the Herald report, intelligence was sent by the Russian Federal Security Service to Thailand’s National Security Council on November 27, a week ago.
Yet search as I might, I can find no mention of this story in The Nation, the “other” English-language newspaper or Thai news services.
Editor’s note: It was covered on our front-page yesterday, headlined: Security boosted after ‘terror threat’.
