Extremism and Islam

Extremism and Islam

Re: “Don’t let extremists mislead you: most Muslim states are tolerant”, Robin Grant, Letters, Dec 21.

Islamic states are theocratic states, not “Muslim states”, and they are completely intolerant. How many Christian churches are there in Saudi Arabia?
Muslims are people. Islam is a totalitarian political ideology. They are not one and the same. My concern is for reasonable Muslims subjugated by unreformed, seventh-century Islam. As an open- minded person who accepts peoples need for religion, I am indifferent to any form of bigotry and hatred.
It is well documented by the FBI that Islamic states such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran and even the UAE finance and encourage the infiltration into democratic society of radical Islam via the Muslim Brotherhood. It has been banned in Egypt, but has many affiliates in the US, such as CAIR, and in the UK. The declared objective is the overthrow of democracy through democratic principles and establishing fundamental Islam with its sharia law. This fact is unashamedly promulgated and publicly declared here in the UK. There are several scholars of Islam calling for its reformation. If one reads the Koran, the Sira and the Hadiths and the history of Islam, it becomes clear that they are right. The dogma of a 1,400-year-old ideology needs fresh thinking, as occurred within Christianity.
