Junta venting vexation in gatecrashing FCCT event

Junta venting vexation in gatecrashing FCCT event

Re: “FCCT invasion a dangerous move”, Editorial, March 18.

I agree with your editorial that the junta government should not have allowed military officers to enter the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand in an unannounced manner and videotape club members, foreign ambassadors and other diplomats while they were watching the documentary film “Drum”.
Such an action might be construed as an attempt to intimidate members of the foreign diplomatic corps as well as journalists. That would not be good for our country’s reputation in the world community.
Despite being one of those Thais who feel some foreign correspondents and Western governments are not treating Thailand in a fair-and-square manner, I am totally opposed to treating them and their representatives, who are residing in our country, in the same unjust fashion. The better way is to display our resiliency and determination to do good things for our country – not to show our vexation at somebody’s show of bad attitude towards us.
