A racist reckoning of atrocities
Re: “Amid raging debate on Mideast, facts being lost”, Letters, March 29.
Ballinaboy wants to know where I got my statistics for the claim that Israel killed thousands of people in Lebanon. Google “Noam Chomsky ‘Limited War’ in Lebanon” and you will read that, “Israel’s 1978 invasion killed several thousand Lebanese and Palestinians”.
Chomsky also notes that, as a result of Israeli bombing, the population of one town in Lebanon dropped from “30,000 to 32”.
I think it’s racist that we believe only Muslims commit atrocities when Christians and Jews are clearly the world champions in that department.
