Govt should highlight the virtues of new charter

Govt should highlight the virtues of new charter

If a student says “2+2=5”, a teacher should gently correct him, showing why he was in error

By the same token, instead of tracking down and suppressing those distorting the charter, the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) should clarify to voters what the letter and spirit of the charter is, and why the distorted version is wrong.
For example, many might think that the draft will yield a series of weak coalition governments that are easily overruled by independent organisations or an unelected Senate working hand-in-glove with a minority of MPs.
The CDC should address these doubts directly, and show how the charter provides for the will of the majority to prevail, with equal protection for minority views, thus convincing the electorate of its virtues.
