Thai brothers identified as masterminds of Asia’s wildlife trafficking

I just finished reading a Guardian report headlined “The crime family at the centre of Asia’s animal trafficking network”. I was disgusted to find out that elephant ivory and rhino horn is being smuggled through Thailand and Laos to China.

The shocking thing was that, of the two Thai brothers allegedly involved, one has a shop in Nakhon Phanom and is still operating. His brother is operating in Son Tay, Vietnam. These people are millionaires off the backs of slaughtered endangered animals. We could ask why they are still on the street, but of course the answer is “money”. However, this trade damages Thailand’s reputation way more than most of the nonsense I hear authorities talk about.
