On the nose at Gaysorn

ONE OF THE most successful wine-tasting events of 2015, Gaysorn Les Vendanges is back for a second year from October 27 to 29 with a three day festival of more than 200 labels from 18 renowned wine importers from all over the world.
The event is inspired by the world’s top wine harvest festival of the same name in France and is bringing together wine connoisseurs, distributors and craftsmen in a “wine village” atmosphere. Through the concept “Terrior: From the Earth to the Bottle”, the festival celebrates the many diverse wine-growing regions and terriors round the globe.
“We created Gaysorn Les Vendanges in response to the tastes of sophisticated wine enthusiasts,” Korakot Srivikorn, executive director of Gaysorn Shopping Centre, told XP.
“Last year’s debut event was very successful, especially in terms of recognition, thanks to the sought-after wine experience in which high fashion and lifestyles converge with unique artisanal wines from across the world. This year, with addition of many special happenings, we are stepping beyond a wine festival to create a community where wine enthusiasts in Thailand can mingle and share their experiences. Event-goers can taste and appreciate fine wines from hundreds of labels.”
All three floors of the spacious mall are being transformed into the wine village with reds, whites, roses and bubbly flowing alongside nibbles and small dishes. The wines will be served in Riedel’s grape varietal specific glasses to maximise bouquet and taste.
Level G is the heart of the festival where people and wines come together. Here visitors can sample a selection of 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, Maximum Brut Trento DOC and Italy’s Trentino at the Ferrari Bar. Chris Ringland 2013 CR Shiraz from Australia’s Barossa Valley can be sipped to live music from the Warren trio.
Level 1 features a variety of artisanal wines. Enthusiasts of arts and wine can look forward to tasting limited production labels, including Casa Vinicola Firriato Harmonium Nero d'Avola Terre Siciliane IGT, and Spain’s Atlan & Artisan Epistem No 2 produced in Yecla.
The selection becomes more premium (and pricier) the higher you go. Level 2 presents the finest and highly sought-after Grand Cru wines such as Gerhard Kracher 2013 Blend II, Burgenland, Austria Van Volxem Scharzhofberger Grand Cru, Germany.
Wine enthusiasts can also explore organic and biodynamic wines from an impressive variety of labels including M Chapoutier Hermitage produced in the Rhone valley and Robert Klingenfus, Clos de Chartreux from Alsace, France.
Gaysorn Les Vendanges is being joined by more than 25 fashion and lifestyle brands within the mall including Brooks Brothers, Brioni, Buben & Zorweg, Hugo Boss, Kwanpen, Mandarin Oriental Shop, Mettique, Nine Gems, Panpuri, Pendulum, Phya, Rimowa, Zwilling and 1823 Tea Lounge by Ronnefeldt.

Gaysorn Les Vendanges 2016 runs from October 27 to 29 from 11am at Gaysorn Shopping Centre (BTS Chidlom).
There is no admission fee. A sampling card allowing 10 sips is priced at Bt500.
