Chinese tourists showed respect to our culture

Chinese tourists showed respect to our culture

During a visit to one of the shopping malls in Chiang Mai the other day, I was surprised to see a group of tourists from China who, instead of wearing the colourful clothing that they usually do, had donned either white or black in order to join us Thais in our deep mourning at the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

I am convinced that this was a result of the Chinese government calling on its people who come to Thailand to display some respect for the Thai people’s feelings during this time of sorrow.
The Thai government should thank foreign governments that show their
sympathy and understanding of the Thai people’s feelings
at this period of deep mourning.
The government should also stop asking foreign governments to send back lese majeste-offending Thais that they have given residence and other assistance to.
Since these people will only create more trouble when they come back to the country, why not leave them out in the cold just as they are?
