Re: “Close to Home” cartoon, Comics/Games, January 2.
Words cannot express my outrage at this blasphemous cartoon, titled “When God gets junk mail”. It portrays the Deity as an ugly old guy sporting a haircut like boxing promoter Don King, plus a scraggly beard, squinty eyes and ugly fingers.
The Deity has endured many insults from the human community in recent centuries. First Nietzsche called Him dead, then Dawkins called Him a delusion, then the ISIS crazies turned Him into a malignant demiurge who delights in bloodshed and slaughter. Now The Nation blots its copybook by running a cartoon depicting Him as a crazy old derelict reading junk mail.
Be careful, humes! If you test His patience too much, He may wax wroth and afflict us with plagues, floods, fire, famine or even annihilation. Donald Trump (aka the Antichrist) may be only a foretaste of the disasters yet to come. Repent, believe and square away.
