US not a ‘pure’ democracy
Re: “The US system defies reform” (Jan 7).
Perhaps Mr Eric Bahrt does not understand that the Electoral College preserves the individual state’s sovereignty. The United States is not a pure democracy and was never intended to be so. We are a constitutional republic – get your facts straight sir.
