Don’t be fooled by ‘no-kill’ animal shelters

Don’t be fooled by ‘no-kill’ animal shelters

It was reported in your newspaper on Sunday that Taiwan now has “no-kill” animal shelters. While on the surface such shelters seem humane, they are not.

They soon become overcrowded and disease and illness spreads rapidly among the dogs. Also, because of lack of space at these shelters, more dogs are forced to live in the streets.
The only humane solution to the dog (or cat) overpopulation problem is to refuse to buy pets from breeders or pet stores, get your pets spayed and neutered and never abandon them in the streets. In fact, if humans were civilised, there would be no need for animal shelters in the first place.
