Kom Chad Luek Award

Kom Chad Luek Award

Nominations for the Kom Chad Luek Award have just been announced and once again indie films are very much in the running.

The Subhanahongsa award ceremony might be done and dusted for another year but the movie award season is far from over. Nominations for the Kom Chad Luek Award have just been announced and once again indie films are very much in the running. Indeed, they have nods in all seven categories from best picture to best supporting actor and actress and screenplay.
Tanwarin Sukkhapisit's “Pum Namman” (“A Gas Station”) leads the pack with five nominations in four categories, namely best film, best director, best screenplay and two nominations for best supporting actress for Penpak Sirikul and Apha Bhavilai.
Subhanahongsa award winner “Dao Khanong” (“By The Time It Gets Dark”) has four nominations as does Pimpaka Towira's “Mahasamut Lae Susan” (“The Island Funeral”) and Paul Spurrier's “Paa” (“The Forest”).
Despite excellent reviews, the English director’s small film was forgotten by Subhanahongsa but is welcomed here in the major categories of best film, best director, best screenplay and best actor for Asanee Suwan of “Beautiful Boxer” fame
“Rawang Rao Khrung Korn” (“Lost In Blue”) and Kongkiat Komsiri's “Suksan Wan Klab Baan” (“Take Me Home”) have three nods.
Recognising bests in movies, music and television, the Kom Chad Luek Awards are also open for the public to vote for their favourite actors and singers in the Popular Votes while the other awards are judged by a jury.
This year the award announcements are being held later than usual with the ceremony taking place on June 14 at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
