Aussie electronic star opens for Coldplay

Aussie electronic star opens for Coldplay

As anticipation continues to grow among Thai fans for Coldplay’s “A Head Full of Dreams” show at Rajamangala Stadium on April 7, the concert’s opening act, electronic rookie star from Australia Jess Kent, has just been announced.

The 22-year-old singer, songwriter and guitarist started her musical journey when she was just seven years old, busking with her brother. The English-born artist has made a name for herself with songs that fuse hip-hop and alt-pop with beat-heavy electronic sounds and defiant yet vulnerably smooth rapping.
The Sydney-based singer rose to fame with her single “Get Down” from her forthcoming debut EP, “My Name is Jess Kent”. The song was the most frequently played song on top Australian radio station Triple J and won the praise of superstars including will.i.am and Coldplay.
Following the announcement of a run of Asian stadium shows for the tour, which includes the band’s first-ever concerts in Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea, Coldplay are returning to Thailand.
Coldplay has already played to 2.5 million people across Latin America, the US and Europe. The show was created by the band alongside celebrated production designers Misty Buckley and Paul Normandale. The tour reaches Australia and New Zealand in December.
“A Head Full of Dreams” has sold more than 5 million copies since its December 2015 release, spawning the hit singles “Adventure of a Lifetime”, “Hymn for the Weekend and “Up&Up”, with more than a billion YouTube video views between them.
Tickets for the Bangkok show are priced from Bt1,800 to Bt6,500 and are available from Thai Ticket Major. Call (02) 262 3456.
