 Ambassadors treated to ‘Power’ polo

The Thailand Polo Association last week hosted the annual Ambassador Cup tournament, again aiming to build stronger relations among nations.

The ambassadors of Brunei, Singapore, China, the Philippines and Pakistan were honoured guests at a ceremony preceding the final round, which was contested by King Power and Islas Filipinas.

The competition attracted athletes from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, the US, Britain and Argentina. They formed six teams – King Power led by Apichet and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Islas Filipinas, Salangor, BP, Paisano Dragons and SPP.
King Power beat Islas Filipinas in the final by 8.5-8 at the VS Sport Club in Samut Prakan.
“It was also a great opportunity for Thailand’s polo players to prepare for the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in August, as well as a sporting platform on which to strengthen relationships between countries,” said association president Kanoksakdi Bhinsaeng.
The event’s theme, “Country Style – Fantastic Farm”, was echoed in many guests wearing denim.
Among the celebrities on hand were Vichai, Aimon, Voramas and Aroonroong Srivaddhanaprabha, Korn Narongdej, Ploy Pinseng, Aranya Maleenont, Mom Chailai Yugala Na Ayudhaya and Rapeepan Luangaramrut.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards for Best Pony, Most Valued Player and the Ambassador Cup, followed by a mini-concert featuring Yada “Petite” Komet and Akkarapol “Tee” Chaisiri from “The Voice” and a guest from “Philippines Got Talent”.
