Pets and dragons for the smaller screen

THE MOST popular online role-playing game in Thailand 10 years ago, Ragnarok Online or RO is back, this time as a game for mobile devices called, aptly enough, Ragnarok Revival.
Developed by South Korean firm Gravity and serviced in Thailand by WeGames, it’s available for both Android and iOS devices.
Ragnarok Revival inherits most of the monsters and game characters from the initial RO but the game play has changed and the graphics have been adapted to fit the display of smartphones or tablets.
In the PC-based RO, players had to be serious about the status of their characters and learn how to use the characters’ various skills. They also had to be fast in using key combinations to cast and activate skills to kill monsters.
The mobile version simplifies the game play though without doing away with any of the fun. You don’t have to worry about the characters’ status but you can still have the characters learn various skills of your choice. Best of all, the game provides an auto function for your characters to automatically attack monsters.
In another big change, your character must form a team with four pets or heroes to help fight monsters or else you will never overcome difficult missions. The trick to your success is the performance of these pets. You can have as many as you want but only four can be selected to join a fight. And you must select pets that suit a mission. For example, you need one that provides you with a defence against attack, another to heal your character from damages and another that can attack from a distance or cast spells.

In the game, you simply have to worry about the upgrade of your character with items, accessories and equipment as well as upgrading your pets to make them stronger and more powerful.

The game is free to play but to advance you’ll have to buy various games items or powerful monsters with diamonds. You can buy the diamonds through the e-payment services of 12Call, DtacHappy and TrueMoney. You can also make in-game purchases using Google Play store or Apple’s App Store.
The game features beautiful graphics and good sound effects. It has a lot of features, including training, adventures, missions, and battles against other online players. You can also form your own guild with other online players to attack other guilds.

Each adventure map has 10 dungeons for you to complete. After you’ve achieved that, you will be provided access to explore five more dungeons to upgrade items to enhance your character’s performance.
The game provides five types of characters – swordsman, magician, thief, acolyte, and archer. Each character can upgrade to two more classes. For example, a swordsman can upgrade to a crusader and then a paladin while a magician can become a wizard and then a high wizard.
The game is already proving popular and WeGames says it has now opened 27 servers to meet the demand of the growing number of users.
