‘War on terror’ actually a war on truth

‘War on terror’ actually a war on truth

When it comes to analysis of terrorism, be it modern or historical, we are sometimes exposed to grandiose claims and sweeping generalisations to exacerbate the size of the threat, and certainly so by irresponsible contributors to these pages.

This exaggeration is made partly to justify gratuitous attacks on civilian communities where “they” may be hiding, or using the instruments of fear to control a target population.

These are well-known tactics used by feral elements who find their way into unearned positions of power. This mendacity is further propagated by impressionable fools who continue to use grossly unsubstantiated “facts” and outright calumny to support their vapid and, contemporaneously, Islamophobic prejudices, and thence to splatter this nauseating bile all over the Letters section of The Nation. The latest example was published here on May 2.
This kind of evident personality disorder is particularly true of bi-polar temperaments in said pages where the sufferers disguise themselves as others, doubtless due to a spineless attempt to hide their identities in the face of justified criticisms of what passes for “scrutiny” as it relates to issues of the day. That they persist in this obnoxious defence of the indefensible is offensive enough, but to also do so by craven subterfuge makes it doubly contemptible.
