US embassy is right to be suspicious of visa applicants

Re: “Visa policy is holding back American tourism”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

Mark Harris is incessantly rapping the US embassy in Bangkok for being stingy with visas, claiming it does not treat applicants as “innocent until proven guilty”.
Mark, that old cliche only applies in criminal trials. When it comes to security and safety concerns, it is the other way around. For example, before you board a commercial flight, like it or not, you are presumed a hijacker until proven otherwise. Would you presume a stranger is innocent and allow him to walk right into your bedroom?
Don’t blame the US embassy for being suspicious about visa applicants, blame the Thais who abused the system in the past.
