Underlining the right to freedom

Underlining the right to freedom

SO Sofitel Bangkok marks the Fete de la Musique with a charity concert at HI-SO on its 29th floor on June 9 not just to celebrate music but also the right to freedom for every woman, man and child.

The “Sounds of SO – Diamond Night charity concert” featuring acclaimed Dutch songstress Athalie de Koning and her band Jazziam will raise funds for Nvader, a non-profit organisation, which since 2012 has rescued and protected thousands of children and women from human trafficking.

“As ambassadors of culture, Sofitel hotels around the world mark the annual “Fete de la Musique” by transforming the global French festival, celebrated in more than 100 countries, into a series of parties. Fete de la Musique was started in France in 1982, we are honored to have Athalie and Jazziam performing at this charity musical event. Any of our guests who have seen her and the band perform at our Jazz Nights will understand why they are a perfect fit for a festival that celebrates music,” says Torsten Richter, general manager of SO Sofitel Bangkok.

Originally formed as a charitable trust in New Zealand in 2011, Nvader made its first deployment to Thailand in 2012, and established a Thai investigation team the following year. In 2016, the regional office was established in Bangkok to support operational growth throughout Asia with five teams in place: the organised crime team; police operations team; aftercare; prosecution; and empowerment.

“Human trafficking is a cause I feel passionate about, and Nvader is an organisation that's doing great work in tackling important social issues. I have supported them in the past, and on the occasion of Fete de la Musique, I am proud to support them again in partnership with SO Sofitel Bangkok,” De Koning says.

“Sounds of SO – Diamond Night” charity concert will take place from 8 to 9.30pm (registration starts at 7.30pm). Tickets are Bt1,000 net per person, including a welcome drink and goodie bag. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Nvader. Advance bookings are required. For more information and reservations, call (02) 624 0000 or email: [email protected]
