A call for help

A call for help

Kittisak “Toei” Charoenkhongsamai – the first drummer of 1990’s rock band Hi-Rock - is now 52 years old and is the final stage of primary liver cancer. He is receiving treatment at home due to a lack of funds to continue to pay hospital bills.

Past and recent photos of the drummer, now appallingly thin, have recently been posted on the social networks as well as the band’s fan page, along with an appeal for money.
“To all fans, we apologise you for stopping updating Phi Toei’s information for a while. That’s because he was diagnosed with final stage liver cancer on April 26. Surgery is impossible because the cancer has spread. Because of the high cost of treatment at hospital, he is now back at home. He now eats like a bird, just one or two spoons per meal. He has no more energy and can barely manage to walk five metres,” the message reads.
“If anybody has any idea how to help him, please let us know, We would also be grateful for donations towards his care. Money can be transferred money to his Kasikorn Bank account: 013-1-34856-8.”
Another way fans to support his treatment is by taking part in the rock concert, “Puea Puean” (“For Friend”), which is being organised by Surach “Pe” Thubwang, the front man of Hi-Rock.
“I found about Toei’s symptoms through a phone call and I very sad at his condition and decided to raise as much money as I can,” says Pe Hi-Rock.
The rock concert, which takes place tonight (June 12) at 7.30 at Saharat Steak House in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi Province, features the former members of Hi-Rock, Laem Morrison, Olarn Phromjai, Kitti Guitar Gun, Pong Hin Lek Fai, Rang Rockestra, Suea Thanapol, Blackhead, Sek LoSo, Pisut Sapwichit, Neng Y Not 7, Bob Lava, Sukanya Miguel, Robert Band and more.
Tickets are Bt300 at the door.
