Reggae dub band Srirajah Rockers swept the 14th Kom Chad Luek Awards, picking up three wins in the category of Thai music with Cathaleeya Marasri’s “Sao Nakhon Chai Si” coming a close second with two. The two artists were on hand to receive their awards on Wednesday (June 14) in a ceremony held at the Thailand Cultural Centre.
“Thank you very much, we are just only a small band so receiving this award is huge for us. It is like a motor driving us forward for our next work. Thank you to everybody for giving us a chance and room to breathe. Most importantly, we’d like to thank our Japanese friend for mixing this album,” said Win Chujitarom, the songwriter and singer of the reggae dub band, as he clutched the band’s first ever trophy for Best Recording for the album “Organix.” The audience showed their pleasure at his acceptance speech with a long and loud round of applause,
Win along with the other members of Srirajah Rockers were soon back on stage, this time to receive the gongs for Best Duo or Group and Best Song for “Ya Hai Day.”
“It’s unbelievable that we have won a second award,” said the irrepressible Win. “We worked hard on our album, even producing and distributing it ourselves. It is more than a small band like ours deserve to receive. This song has a backstory too. I rode my motorcycle from Sri Racha to Chiang Mai where I met Pang Rasmee and we recorded this song together.”

The award for the Best Instrumental Album was the first to be announced and went to Jinda John’s EP “Time Traveler”.
