The true taste of Portugal

The true taste of Portugal

My Kitchen, a dining venue at Siam Discovery, recently joined with the Portuguese Embassy in organising “Celebrate Portugal @ My Kitchen”, a week-long food festival that started by marking Portugal’s National Day on June 10 and continued through June 18.

The festival featured Portuguese classics and fusion dishes along with cooking demonstrations by Portuguese ambassador Francisco Vaz Patto’s private chef Margarida Amaro. The chef has a strong background in cooking traditional Portuguese food and at the event on June 10, she prepared an appetiser and two authentic Portuguese dishes – clams Portuguese style with lemon, garlic and coriander and meat bread from the city of Lamego.

Among guests attending the opening were Kevin Colleary, Anchaleeporn and Nirin Punnothok, ML Auradis Snidvongs, Charlie Charuvastr, Jongjin Jungsura, Chirawan Diskul, and Oravan Kraprayoon. Amaro also provided the opportunity for all visitors to My Kitchen to learn how to cook two traditional Portuguese dishes.

Each of the six restaurants at My Kitchen served a Portuguese inspired dish to celebrate the relationship between the two countries. Cafe Chilli had Thai rice vermicelli with Portuguese chicken curry, while Nara offered Portuguese spicy tomato fried rice with prawns and squid. Other gustatory treats included Portuguese tomato chick pea salad by Kuppadeli, Portuguese potatoes with kale soup by Man Fu Yuan, tempura with Piri Piri sauce by Yuzu, and Portuguese egg tart by Brix.
