Kissing goodbye to summer
American fashion house Proenza Schouler goes wild for colour in its Pre-Fall 2017, bringing silhouettes and artistic influences from the spring and further exploring them as the summer draws to an end.
Silhouettes are broken down into easy and relaxed outerwear rooted in traditional menswear, updated with detailing that gives them a feminine edge. Drawstrings appear in a variety of ways, and are used both as decorative and functional elements. Fabrics are gathered to create generous volume and proportion, lending the collection a luxurious but casual feel.
Dresses are short and long, with asymmetric detailing and bias cutting. Knitwear continues to be pushed and explored, and is represented in both day and evening clothes. Leather perfectos and reconstructed tailoring round out an almost seasonless collection. The collection is rooted in strong wearable fashion.
Handbags continue to be an important category for the brand. The recently introduced Hava and Hex bags are pushed further and explored in novel colourful fabrications.
The former is an ultra-collapsed tote bag with a softness and generosity of volume that is an evolution of the brand’s best-selling tote. The latter, meanwhile, is a kind of cousin to the PS1 in its function and ease, but is rendered in a new shape and with unique detailing that feels of the moment.
Shoes appear in a variety of silhouettes, but are all rooted in cool, wearable, down to earth styles with practicality and a fashion edge.
