Courage needed to rescue the US

Courage needed to rescue the US

We appear to be getting yet more mixed messages from Trump.

Just the other day he was forced to retract on an earlier statement in which he neglected to openly condemn the neo-and crypto-fascist scum who comprise much of his support base. Having been subsequently shamed into doing so, he has now yet again besmirched one of the great offices of state by, it would seem, siding with the extremist elements that pollute the American body politic.
Why? I would have thought that was obvious.
The union is in danger of sustaining further wounds because of deep fissures across the wide spectrum of US society. The abyssal cleavages that now separate left, right and centre promise further schisms with Trump currently at the heart of the matter, although the malaise admittedly goes deeper than that. Trump is not the only cause, but he is certainly a major symptom.
Prophylactic measures are currently in short supply, but make no mistake about it – IS-style terror tactics are now being used, and urgent action is required to arrest the slippage. A good start would be for someone of courage to be instrumental in removing the
man currently at the helm, for the good of the US and those of us who hold that great country in high regard.
The alternatives invite awful consideration. To paraphrase Edmund Burke, all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing.
